あらためて既読本リストを調べたところ、旧作を読んだことがあるのはやはり Douglas Stuart と Elizabeth Strout だけだった。あとは知らない作家ばかりだ。
前回から上位陣に多少移動があったが、下位グループは変化なし。ページ数から判断するかぎり、人気馬はどれも大作ではなさそうなので昔だったら飛びつくところだけど、いまや年金生活者。サイフのひもをゆるめるわけにはいかない。下馬評の更新も参考にしつつ、さいごは例年どおりショートリスト待ちでしょうな。
大作といえば、先週から読みはじめた2015年のブッカー賞受賞作、"A Brief History of Seven Killings"（2014）は冒頭からチンプンカンプン。AIで調べたところ、コカイン中毒者が錯乱状態で発するたわごとらしい。
すっかり戦意喪失し即中断、重巡摩耶と鳥海のプラモ製作に励んでいた。知的生活としては、旧作のレビューを、ああでもないこうでもないと加筆修正。やっと2008年秋までさかのぼった。
この年のブッカー賞ランキングを公表したのは、最後の最終候補作を読みおえた2009年の５月。以下、過去記事「ブッカー賞ぼくのランキング」に追加しました。
